Climate in Peru
The tour in Peru takes place within a narrow band of latitudes in the tropics of the Southern Hemisphere, but takes us through some widely contrasting geographic and climatic zones.

The Andes
Here, in a single day, all four seasons can be experienced: cold, sharp nights and early mornings; spring-like mornings; warm/hot afternoons with very strong sun; and chilly evenings. Being well within the tropics, day and night are about equal in length. Peru’s sun rises and sets very quickly, so temperatures can drop quickly. At altitude, temperatures vary sharply between sun and shade, with rises and drops in altitude and depending on whether ground is sheltered or exposed.

Climate in Patagonia
This itinerary takes place entirely within southern Patagonia. Seasonal climate information refers specifically to this zone.
May to October: Autumn/winter. Cold and wet. Snow often lying on higher ground. Proximity of oceans means that temperatures rarely drop below zero at sea level. Short days. Not suitable for trekking.
November to April: Spring/summer. Average high 14 C. Average low 5C. However, temperatures drop sharply with altitude gain. Typical feature is strong winds, which lower temperatures significantly.  In general, the further west, the wetter, and the further east, the drier. Rarely snow lying below 800 m.

A considerable amount of the country's appeal lies in its Inca relics, especially Machu Picchu, which remains the most popular trekking destination in the whole of South America. Such tours whether they are along the classic 'Inca Trail' or at a more leisurely tourist pace, take in historical delights such as Cuzco as well. 

On our tour to the wildlands of Patagonia you can experience the sublime wonders of the Andes as they continue through Argentina and Chile towards Cape Horn and into the toe of the continent.
