This
moderately graded, compact escorted tour takes you through the heart and
soul of Slovenia, revealing some of its finest landscapes and natural
features. It is a country of amazing contrasts, you can visit beautiful
Lake Bled, stroll through forests and undulating vineyards, be sunbathing
along the white sand beaches of the rushing Soca River or walking in
classic Alpine scenery.
The walks take you high into the Julian Alps to 2000m above the beautiful
seven Triglav lakes with a chance to climb Mount Krn 2182m.
Starting and finishing in Ljubljana, you will have time to enjoy this
beautiful tiny capital city, reminiscent of a tiny Prague with its
medieval bridges, churches and castle on the Ljubljanica River. Then it is
off to the Julian Alps and a classic Alpine Lakeland landscape.
The jewel of the alpine region is the emerald lake of Bled flanked by the
mighty Karavanke Mountains and the majestic Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj, a
nature lovers paradise, provides an excellent base for walking. The region
contains many magnificent peaks including the mighty Triglav. The
breathtaking beauty of these mountains along with waterfalls, rivers,
valleys and meadows full of alpine flowers cannot fail to captivate. A
region where the mountains have magical names, chamoix climb, eagles soar
and beauty is in abundance.
From Bohinj drive along the long pristine valley of the untamed Socu river
and walk the magical Trenta valley before arriving in the small village of
Bovec. Overlooked by high peaks we drive up the Lepena valley and walk to
the beautiful Krnska lakes with an optional ascent of Mount Krn (2182m)
for views to the Adriatic Sea. The last full day involves a walk to the
hidden waterfall of Kozjak, a drive to the UNESCO World Heritage
site of Skocjan Caves to explore this incredible natural phenomenon and
finally on to Ljubljana.
