Walking and Cycling Charity Challenges

Sherpa Expeditions has been crafting high quality walking and cycling adventures for over 40 years and are specialists at creating walking and cycling charity challenges in the UK and Europe. 

Create your own challenge from any Sherpa Expeditions Self-Guided adventure on the website, a departure date that suits and choose the charity that is most important to you. Being self-guided many of our trips can be undertaken as an individual or with just two people.  We can also cater to small groups. 


As an acknowledgement that you are fundraising for a good cause, we'll will give you a 10% discount on the land component of your travel (excludes the booking deposit and cannot be used in conjunction with other specials and promotions and must be booked direct with Sherpa Expeditions). If you would like to organise a guided group challenge please contact us to discuss further. 

Creating your Charity Challenge

To create your own challenge is easy and we are here to help you through the following steps:


  1. Pair up with a charity
    Contact your chosen charity who will give you a letter of authorisation to fundraise for them and will also help you with fundraising targets.
  2. Select your charity challenge
    Select the walking or cycling trip you would like to undertake as your charity challenge and a preferred start date.   
  3. Book your charity challenge
    Phone or email our office to make your booking advising that you are going to undertake your trip as a Challenge to fundraise for a charity. You will need to present your ‘Authority to Fundraise’ letter. In order to receive your 10% discount, at the time your balance of payment for the trip is due, you must show a confirmation letter from your charity stating that you have fundraised or paid the minimum amount. Balance is due 70 days prior to the departure date.

  5. Confirmation Kit sent out
    Once you are booked on an adventure we’ll email you a confirmation kit containing:
    - Fundraiser’s Guidebook
    - Pre-departure information
    - Medical form (if applicable)
    - Travel invoice (with discount applied)
  6. Start fundraising!
    The Fundraiser’s Guidebook we provide you with will assist you greatly in settling fundraising objectives and determining your fundraising activities. Your charity may have aligned with one of the many online fundraising portals in which case you can set up your personal fundraising page and link to your charity. It’s then a matter of getting your friends, family, colleagues and greater network to support you by pledging donations.  Setting up a fundraising page is not to cover the cost of your trip, this is paid separately to Sherpa Expeditions.
  7. Start training
    Depending on the type of charity challenge you have chosen, it may be graded introductory through to challenging, you will need to set yourself a fitness program to ensure you're physically ready for the challenge component of your travel. We can certainly make suggestions and assist you in understanding what is required.
  8. Commence your charity challenge!
