Self-Guided Walking Holidays in Norway

Norway for the duration of the self-guided walking season, is the Land of the Midnight Sun with very long summer days. You will probably not even notice the night as such, just a certain dimness which will have nothing to do with any drinks that you may have had!

What people really come to the Land of Trolls to see is a series of ruggedly beautiful panoramas full of glaciated mountains, fjords and small attractive settlements. In Norway you can undertake some great wilderness hiking and travel on some of the world's most scenic ferry and train rides. You will also find unspoiled fishing villages with their Gothic styled medieval stave churches. There are rolling farmlands, enchanted forests and the dramatic Western Fjords, of which Sognefjord - visited on our tour - is the longest and deepest. With only 4.5 million people in a country that is 385,155 sq km - nowhere will ever feel particularly crowded and the country, still a Constitutional monarchy, fiercely guards its traditions.

Our self-guided walking holidays are fully flexible which means you can normally start your walk on any day during the season and customise by adding extra days for resting or sightseeing. As you're walking independently, you're free to follow the trail at your own pace. You set your own pace as you are not limited by the constraints of group travel

You are free to shorten or lengthen your walk as the terrain permits and can even take a day off, although you may need to travel onto your next accommodation by taxi or public transport in order to do so. As long as you are reasonably active you will be able to find a suitable tour and all of our tours are graded to help you choose the right walk for you.
